Ads Manager is deep and its reports make you flip date ranges and breakdowns over and over; “which creative converted best this week” can take an afternoon. Meta Ads MCP lets an agent read data and change campaigns through Meta’s official Marketing API, across Facebook and Instagram. It’s maintained by Pipeboard, a Meta Business Partner, and had about 1.3k stars as of 2026-10-06, the most of any server in this niche.

What it does

  • Performance: get_insights pulls results by campaign, ad set or ad; get_campaigns, get_adsets and get_ads list structure and status.
  • Building ads: create_campaign, create_adset and create_ad, with status defaulting to PAUSED so nothing starts spending on creation; create_budget_schedule sets budget schedules.
  • Creatives: upload_ad_image uploads images; create_ad_creative and update_ad_creative edit copy, headlines and calls to action.
  • Targeting: search_interests, search_behaviors, search_demographics and search_geo_locations look up audiences, and get_interest_suggestions proposes related interests.

(The README lists the full tool names with an mcp_meta_ads_ prefix.)

Who it’s for

  • In-house marketers at small brands who want a daily performance summary and a list of ad sets to pause.
  • Agency media buyers who want to spin up test ad sets and audiences in plain language.
  • Teams also buying on Google or TikTok; Pipeboard offers servers for those platforms under the same login.

Setup

The hosted version is the recommended path. Sign up at pipeboard.co, connect your Facebook ad account, then add the remote URL to your client, for example ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "meta-ads-remote": {
      "url": "https://meta-ads.mcp.pipeboard.co/"
    }
  }
}

In Claude on the web or desktop, add the same URL under Integrations. For self-hosting, the README links a local HTTP mode guide.

Our take

We picked it over smaller community servers because it has the widest tool set, uses the official API, starts new campaigns paused and asks for confirmation on writes. Know three things first. It steers you to Pipeboard’s hosted service, which has a free plan and paid tiers, and your ad-account authorization sits with Pipeboard. The license is the Business Source License 1.1. You can use and modify it for free; offering it as a competing hosted service is off limits until it converts to Apache 2.0 on January 1, 2029. And the README itself notes that Meta has an official connector; if you only buy Meta ads and prefer first-party, look there first. It can change budgets and launch ads, so review before anything goes live.
